29-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries in cement truck crash

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Department of Public Safety has released more info on a crash that happened on I-29 Tuesday.

Authorities say preliminary crash info shows that the driver of a Peterbilt Conventional 357 cement truck was traveling southbound on I-29 near mile marker 75 when the driver’s side front tire burst. The vehicle entered the median and rolled.

A 67-year-old man suffered minor injuries. A 29-year-old male suffered life-threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of I-29 were closed for approximately three hours.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

A crash on the southern edge of Sioux Falls backed up traffic on Interstate 29, south of the city.

Several fire trucks, troopers and at least one ambulance responded.

A large truck is tipped onto its side in the northbound lanes.

It looks like drivers are being diverted onto Interstate 229, as authorities investigate and clean up the scene.
