Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — A Rapid City man is being held without bond Friday night. Reed Thompson, 55, is accused of drugging and raping four teenaged girls.

And prosecutors think there are even more victims.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says Thompson targeted the most vulnerable teenage girls, including runaways.

Pennington County officials say he gave four 13-to-15 year old girls drugs and took advantage of them. In addition to the drug charges, Thompson faces three counts of rape, sexual exploitation of a minor and solicitation of a minor.

This long investigation by the Pennington County Sheriff’ Department saw assists from other departments here in the area, including the special unit of Internet Crimes Against Children. This six-month-long investigation all started from a public tip.

The Investigation Division is pleased with the teamwork local departments have had throughout this case.

“This is what we do, and this is another classic example of that and the investigations crew and law enforcement coming together to make an arrest in this case.” said PCSO Investigations Captain Dustin Morrison.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office believes there are more victims out there and they want to help.

“This is an ongoing thing. As you saw, we have an Internet Crimes Against Children task force and they recently ran a sting operation during the Sturgis Rally and they made several arrests,” Morrison said. “This is an ongoing thing, anytime we get information, we take this very seriously and we’re going to do everything in our power to aggressively pursue and reach justice for those victims and those victims families.”

Because Thompson is already a habitual offender, if convicted of these charges he could face life in prison.

If you have any information that could be useful to the Investigation Division in this case, call the Rapid City Police.
