TEA, S.D. (KELO) — Plenty of people every day go to see Orthopedic Institute’s new main facility in Tea, S.D. as they drive by, heading north or south. It’s a purposeful location.

“Being right off the interstate, there’s so many of our patients that come from outlying areas, so it’s a lot easier than trying to get right into the heart of Sioux Falls,” Orthopedic Institute CEO Lynda Barrie said Friday.

This facility located to the immediate west of Interstate 29 will begin welcoming patients Feb. 10.

“It’s fantastic,” said Crystal Christensen, director of operations for Orthopedic Institute. “It’s large. It’s exciting to be under one roof, to have everybody here collaborating together.”

Barrie says the new location will enjoy roughly 50% more square footage compared to where they had been headquartered in central Sioux Falls.

“In the atrium that we’re in now, there are five different entrances that go into the various clinical areas, and so that makes it so that especially with our patients being orthopedic patients, generally, and sometimes it can be a little bit hard to get around, is that there’s easy access in to all the clinical areas,” Barrie said.

Christensen says the proximity of different services to each other will be a difference maker at the new location.

“Being able to see your physician, have some physical therapy, occupational therapy,” Christensen said. “We have our performance center that’s coming out, too.”
