SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A burglary is reminding Rapid City residents to stay vigilant.
According to a news release, at around 6:24 am on Febuary 1, Rapid City police were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Lodge Street for a report of a burglary that had taken place.
It was reported that an unknown male had entered the home and assaulted a resident before fleeing the scene.
The victim described the suspect as a Native American male between the ages of 30 and 40, approximately 6 feet tall, with black hair and wearing light-colored pants with a light-colored hooded sweatshirt.

The suspect left behind several items that will be tested with DNA evidence. Rapid City police strongly urge the suspect to turn himself in.
Video footage of the area shows the male suspect leaving the house and fleeing on foot north along Lodge Street.
Neighborhood residents and businesses along Jackson Boulevard are asked to check any outdoor security cameras for suspicious activity during the timeframe of the incident.
