SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Breadico opened its first location in 2020, but David Napolitano has been making bread for much longer.

“Actually I started in my parents garage about 12, 13 years ago and have just kind of moved around and done different things and so forth,” said David Napolitano, owner of Breadico.

The current location on 69th and Western specializes in sourdough bread, pastries and cookies. Napolitano has a different vision for the second shop, which includes an area for customers to sit down and enjoy a meal.

“We’re just planning on having sandwiches, pastries, just really also accentuating the use of really great flour in our products as well as in our breads,” said Napolitano. We’re going to be making a new variety of sourdough bread that we don’t do here currently. More of the niche, artisanal sourdough bread that we’ve done here and there, and people have asked for it, but it just doesn’t really fit in with the process of how we operate here.”

The new location is called Cafe Breadico. When it opens, it will be in Cherapa Place, looking out onto the river.

The current plan is to have the cafe open by July or August. Crews will start pouring concrete on Friday.

“We’re not trying to push it too hard, and we’re just trying to build something nice so that we’re happy working there and that people seem to enjoy,” said Napolitano.
