INWOOD, IA (KELO) — A northwest Iowa child care provider is accused of assaulting five different children in just an hour and 15 minutes.
Court documents say the victims were all 2-year-olds, and the incidents all happened at Kingdom Kids Daycare in Inwood, Iowa.
Authorities arrested 30-year-old Elizabeth Kainrath on Saturday. She faces one count of felony child endangerment along with 13 counts of misdemeanor child endangerment.
There may not be a sign outside, but people in Inwood, Iowa know that this church is home to Kingdom Kids Daycare. According to Iowa’s department of Health and Human Services, it’s the only licensed center in town.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was called there on Friday to investigate reports of abuse.
Together with state investigators, the sheriff’s office was able to identify 14 different incidents involving five different toddlers.
Court documents say one child took the brunt of the abuse.
Kainrath is accused of violently grabbing the two year old and dragging the child in the air four times. She’s also accused of kicking that same child three times, forcing the child into a chair and forcefully stepping on the toddler twice.
The affidavit also says Kainrath violently dragged four other children by either the arm or leg, allegedly leaving marks on the arms of one child.
Investigators say it all happened on the same day.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s office also says Kingdom Kids Daycare reported the investigation quickly and communicated and cooperated with parents and officials throughout the investigation.
We reached out to Kingdom Kids Daycare but have not heard back.
Kainrath was brought to the Lyon County Jail on Saturday. Her bond was set at $31,000 cash or surety. According to court records, she was released from jail Monday.
