Centerville, Bennett County advance to Class ‘B’ semis

HURON, S.D. (KELO) — The Class ‘B’ girls basketball state tournament has been narrowed down from eight teams to four following the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Top-seed and reigning state champion Centerville defeated Deubrook Area 51-46 in the first game of the day. Freshman Izzy Eide led all scorers with 22 points for the Tornadoes.

Bennett County eeked out a 51-49 win over Parkston. Peyson O’Neill led the way with 14 points in the win.

Dell Rapids St. Mary’s defeated Harding County 61-50 to move onto the semis. Madala Hanson paced the Cardinals with 22 points.

In the final game of the day, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket topped Lyman 53-40. Liz Boschee netted 23 for the Blackhawks.

The semifinals will see Centerville meet Bennett County and Dell Rapids St. Mary’s take on Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Friday.
