SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — Good morning KELOLAND! A few light showers have been moving across eastern KELOLAND. You can see the wet streets in Watertown as of 7am. Don’t expect much rain, but the clouds will keep temperatures cooler in our eastern counties this afternoon.
You can see those scattered showers on the radar loop below. Again, everything we see here is light with just a few hundredths of an inch possible.
Temperatures soared yesterday into the 70s in many areas. We are not done with the 70s this week, with more mild weather likely tomorrow and Saturday.
Temperatures will be cooler today in Sioux Falls compared to yesterday with highs in the lower 60s.
Don’t forget about the very high fire danger today again for much of central and western KELOLAND.
We expect dry weather conditions to be the big story going into the next few days. Highs tomorrow will rebound to 80 in Rapid City with more elevated fire danger expected. Sioux Falls will stay in the mid 60s, but that will change on Saturday. Widespread 70s are forecasted in eastern KELOLAND with stronger south winds. Scattered rain showers are still possible on Sunday.
Pay close attention to the wind forecast starting Sunday into Monday. We expect strong NW winds to develop across the region, with gusts over 40mph likely.
Keep an eye on the big picture for moisture chances the next 7 to 10 days. You’ll notice the moisture coming off the gulf coast region is limited. The pattern is still a NW flow, which is normally not a wet one for KELOLAND. We’ll continue to watch…
Here are the details of the forecast.
