Buffalo Fire burns 1000 acres

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Officials responded to a grass fire west of Swiftbird Friday afternoon.

Named the Buffalo Fire, the accidental ignition caused by a wheel bearing going out consumed roughly 1000 acres north of Highway 212.

Agencies from Agar, Hoven, Timber Lake, Eagle Butte, Trail City, BIA and area task forces responded.

The fire is currently 100% contained but will continue to be monitored.
