School of Mines student files immigration lawsuit

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A former South Dakota School of Mines student is suing Department of Homeland security secretary Kristi Noem claiming that her immigration documents were wrongfully terminated.

Thune asks for patience as event draws demonstrators

Priya Saxena is a doctorate student from India. Court papers say that the School of Mines informed her that her Student and Exchange Visitor Information System immigration record had terminated by the DHS. The actions will prevent her form graduating in May.

A request for a temporary restraining order was filed in federal court on Thursday. A hearing is scheduled for Friday at the Federal Courthouse in Rapid City.
