Aberdeen stabbing leads to felony arrest

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A suspect is in custody following a stabbing that occurred in the early morning of September 8 in Aberdeen.

According to a Facebook post, Aberdeen police were dispatched to a reported stabbing in the 600 block of South Grand Street. When they arrived, officers encountered both the victim and a suspect.

A 52-year-old female was transported by ambulance to Avera Hospital and treated for multiple stab wounds on her legs, hands, arms, back and torso. The victim has been treated and released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

The 53-year-old male suspect was arrested and booked on felony assault charges.

The suspect and the victim knew each other. There is no danger to the public. The Aberdeen Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
