Several agencies issued alerts on Saturday warning swimmers and beachgoers of the sticky substance. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the incident but so far has not identified a source of the pollution. Officials emphasized that while the beaches are not closed, swimmers should stay out of the water due to the substance.
