Asteroid probe thought to be tumbling in space; CEO vows to try again

The outlook for a private spacecraft to conduct a fly-by mission of an asteroid known as 2022 OB5 looks bleak after a series of communication issues. The spacecraft Odin launched aboard a SpaceX rocket on Wednesday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. California-based AstroForge says plans to eventually mine space rock and will attempt another mission next year.

Wildfires erupt along Eastern Seaboard as weekend dominated by dry, windy weather

A dry, windy Saturday across the Eastern Seaboard sparked dozens of pop-up fires from Georgia and the Carolinas through Delmarva Peninsula and Jersey Shore. More than 40 million residents from the South to the Northeast were placed under Red Flag Warnings, due to the combination of low humidity, dry terrain and gusty winds, which led to increased dangers of fires quickly growing out of control.
