Black Hills wildfire 90% contained

EDGEMONT, S.D. (KELO) — There is an update on the wildfire burning in the Black Hills National Forest area.

Fire personnel are continuing to hold the fire within the containment lines. They are focused on containing and patrolling the remainder of the boundary and continuing to mop up the burned area.

Air tankers and aerial support are available as firefighters need. Firefighters and the public’s safety remain at the forefront of the efforts.

New agreement removes voting barriers for Native Americans

As of 8:00 A.M. Monday, there are currently 110 fire personnel from across the region, spanning numerous states including South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Wisconsin and Colorado.

The fire remains on 367 acres of the Black Hills National Forest. However, “significant efforts” have been made and the fire is estimated to be 90% contained.
