STORRS, CT (KELO) — The UConn women overcame a slow first quarter start to blow past SDSU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, 91-57.

The loss marks the end of SDSU’s season. They finish the year with a 30-4 record.

The Jackrabbits forced the Huskies into a slow first quarter. SDSU found themselves leading most of the quarter, until a Paige Bueckers led 6-0 run gave UConn a 19-14 lead… and they never slowed down.

Bueckers added nine second quarter points, totaling 21 in the first half pushing the score to 43-28 at halftime.

The Huskies outshot SDSU just 53%-44%, but the biggest issue was turnovers. State had 14 first half turnovers and UConn scored 25 of their points off of turnovers.

Bueckers and Huskies didn’t stop there. She added 11 more points in the third, on her way to a game high 34 points. That also tied a career high.

The third quarter was maybe the most impressive for UConn on Monday. They used a 25-3 run to close the quarter, outscoring SDSU 29-8. SDSU shot just 21% from the field in the third.

Turnovers were a problem all evening for State. They had 25 turnovers, which is the most in a game this season.

SDSU was led by Paige Meyer, who scored 16 points in her final game with the Jackrabbits. She was the only Jack in double figures.
