MEADE COUNTY, S.D. (KELO) — Due to the likelihood of dryer conditions and hot temperatures this weekend, fire danger is still present and the burn ban remains.

According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), their dispatch center has received numerous calls regarding the burn ban. The calls have put additional pressure on the emergency services which are already stretched thin.

As reported on the MCSO social media, there were 23 lightning fires that required emergency response in the Great Plains area.
