SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Friday is a big day for us here at KELOLAND Media Group as we hold our annual pet food drive.

Each year we collect thousands of pounds of pet food for both cats and dogs, but we know we can’t do it without your support.

“Well we are looking for dog and cat food of any brand,” Promotion Director Paul Farmer said.

Bag after bag, our viewers have always come through for us when we hold our annual Pet Food Drive outside our station on Phillips Avenue.

This year, we’re donating all the pet food we collect to ‘Dakota Dachshunds Rescue’ and ‘Almost Home Canine Rescue.’

But we collect more than just pet food.

“Certainly we will accept cash donations if anyone just wants to drop off cash and you can designate those to what organization you want or we’ll split them up between the two organizations,” Farmer said.

As we’ve seen in the past it’s the pet food that’s really the cat’s meow.

“Anywhere from four to eight to 10 thousand pounds and we usually raise around a $1,000 in cash donations too,” Farmer said.

So if you’d like to donate, stop on by, we’ll be sure to have someone there to help you unload your pet food.

“It’ll run all weekend long at Sioux Falls’ Lewis stores so if you miss it on Friday stop by any Lewis store over the Labor Day weekend,” Farmer said.

Our Pet Food Drive runs from 7 am til 2 pm.

With your donation, we’ll give you a free ticket to the KELOLAND Living Arts & Crafts Show, which is October 18th & 19th.
