SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Police Department says Sunday’s homicide at Dunham Park is the year’s sixth. Kevin Click lives a short walk from the park; he tells KELOLAND News he heard the gunfire which rang out Sunday afternoon.
“It’s crazy,” Click said Monday. “Like, this neighborhood’s not a bad neighborhood. So to, for something this to happen on a Sunday afternoon, it’s pretty intense.”

“The shell casings that were found, there were multiple calibers,” Sioux Falls Police Department spokesperson Sam Clemens said. “That would obviously indicate different guns were involved. Number of guns, we don’t have answers to; number of shooters or potential shooters, we don’t have answers to that, either.”
While the park is back open, investigators are all ears for any tips which may come to light.
“There were multiple people that were there,” Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum said. “People know exactly what happened. We rely on cooperation from the public to help us out in these circumstances.”
“This is a case where there’s no piece of information that’s too small,” Clemens said.
After all, just one tip could help lead to an arrest and maybe even a safer park for the people who call this corner of Sioux Falls home.
“My wife and I, we bring our kids here to the park and play a lot, so it’s a little concerning,” Click said.
