SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A Colorado woman remains unresponsive after suffering a severe brain injury after she was hit by an intoxicated motorcyclist at the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis last weekend, her family says.

“She is currently on life support, nobody knows how long her recovery will be,” Wesbrock’s father said in a GoFundMe post.

Wesbrock was admitted to the ICU at Monument Healthcare in Rapid City where she was put on life support. According to Wesbrock’s GoFundMe page, by August 15 she had developed a blood clot where doctor’s removed part of her skull.

“She still has reflex, however, she’s still unresponsive,” Wesbrock’s father said in an update. “I want everyone to know that she will be unresponsive for quite a while. Aaften is strong and she’s putting out an amazing amount of energy for her life.”

The latest update on the fundraiser page from Sunday, August 18 said Aaften’s facial swelling has gone down and her neck brace was removed

On August 14, the Meade County Sheriff’s Office said they are investigating two motorcycle crashes from the Buffalo Chip campground. The sheriff’s office said a North Dakota man was arrested for Vehicular Battery and DUI.

Wesbrock’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help cover medical costs for her during recovery. The page is currently at just over $8,000 raised. The linked GoFundMe is the only donation site that Wesbrock’s family supports.
