SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Friends and Neighbors and their equipment flooded the Wieczorek farm east of Stickney on Monday.

Brent Weiczoreek was in a serious crash two weeks ago today.

“I hit a bump, lost control with a semi pulling a hay grinder, laid it on its side, and smashed the cab in. God had his hands around me and saved me. Everybody tells me it’s a miracle,” said Brent.

Why you’ll no longer see ‘Wind Chill Warnings’ this winter

Brent needed more than 300 stitches and is still recovering, so neighbors met at around 10:30 this morning to get his soybeans harvested. He, his wife Michelle and their daughters were there to watch and provide meals.

“It’s overwhelming I’m truly blessed, yah speechless,” said Brent.

It’s just very humbling,” said Michelle. “It’s so awesome to live in a community where everybody just comes together and helps out when they need to and it’s just amazing to see everyone come together.

These neighbors know that what happened to Brent could happen to any one of them, so lending a helping hand during this critical time is just natural. Brent’s dad says seeing the number of people showing up to help is heartwarming.

“Everyone has been assigned to their own field and it’s all going to town so the elevators are aware of where it’s going and it’s just been coming together here and there’s been some people that put it together and that were awesome,” said Vic Wieczorek.

By the time they are done, they will have harvested about 500 acres of soybeans. The volunteers tell us they will finish in one day.

Very doable considering they have seven combines running in six different fields. These neighbors are harvesting a crop, but they are also planting the seeds of friendship and family for years to come.
