SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — As humidity increases, we’ll have better chance for rain.

Strong winds brought in cooler air Friday with highs in the 40s and 50s. While we’ll slowly warm this weekend, temperatures will return slightly above average for much of next week. Along with the warmer air, you’ll start to feel a little more humidity in the air.
As the jet stream digs into the southwest, we’ll get a better fetch of moisture from the gulf. In response, dew point temperatures will go up. This first instance happens Thursday, which is a time when we’ll have to watch for rain.
The next time we get higher dew points is Monday, April 28. Depending on the timing, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get rain that day or the day after.
As the dew points go up, you’ll be able to feel the higher humidity in the air.
The take away is, as we head into the later part of April, things will continue to change. As higher dew points continue to waffle back and forth and with upper level support, I do expect better chances for rain for the second half of the month.
