Lower Brule moved in 2024, along with the state’s other eight tribes, to ban Noem following “comments she said about our children having no hope and also saying parents were absent.”
The tribe asked for an official apology, which was never given.
Despite this, the tribe’s resolution states that the tribe met with Noem on January 13, 2025, at which point she pledged to work with the tribe to promote tribal law enforcement training in South Dakota.
The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe lifted their ban on Noem on January 15, 2025.
The Lower Brule resolution also calls on Governor Larry Rhoden to engage in a positive “Tribal-State Relationship.”
