Man arrested after shooting at Highway Patrol

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A man with a violent criminal history is back behind bars, accused of shooting at a trooper with the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

65-year-old David Yocom was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail early this morning.

He faces several charges including eluding, shooting a gun from a car in city limits and aggravated assault on law enforcement.

Yocom is currently on parole for aggravated assault in a case that dates back to August of 2015 in which he hit his dentist with his car, recorded the crime and posted it on Facebook.

Yocom is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
