Man dies 3 weeks after motorcycle crash near Edgemont

EDGEMONT, S.D. (KELO) — A 44-year-old man died Friday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash August 3 at noon, seven miles east of Edgemont.

According to the S.D. Department of Public Safety, the driver of a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling east on U.S. Hwy 18 near mile marker 20. The motorcycle left the road to the right and the driver became separated from the vehicle and ended up in the south ditch. He received serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Rapid City hospital. The man was wearing a helmet. He died three weeks later.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. The name of the victim is not available pending notification of family members.
