SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is bringing a pop of pink to its building, and not just the color. This month, the PREMIER Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary, honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month and welcoming pop artist P!nk on October 21st.

The road outside of the building even has a new name, Pink Place, until next week.

“It should go pretty smoothly. We’ve got ten years under our belt and this is just a little bit bigger than things we’ve done before,” PREMIER Center assistant general manager Jim Johnson said.

As staff prepare to welcome the pop artist on Monday night, they still have a few events heading into this weekend.

“We had a big chamber event here on Tuesday and then a sponsor function earlier in the week. Then we roll into hockey both tomorrow night and Saturday. And then we’ve got another overnight changeover to get ready for pink load-in,” PREMIER Center general manager Mike Krewson said.

As far as capacity goes, this concert will be the smallest venue she performs at this tour. But, it’s a big honor for staff and the Sioux Falls community to welcome the star and her crew when they arrive.

Southeast Tech to add SF prison location

“It will be close to 30 semi-trucks. That’ll be the biggest one that we’ve ever done,” Krewson said. “I’m not sure about the weight of the show as far as how much they’re going to hang, but I think it’s going to probably be probably a top three or four of all time for us.”

The PREMIER Center has sold almost ten thousand tickets and hopes to add a few more day-of.

“We tell people to go to our website… click the purchase ticket link. There are a lot of third party sites out there that may not actually have the tickets and try and sell you something for seats that don’t exist,” Johnson said.

Organizers are reminding those planning to attend to arrive early to find parking.

“We will have staff out there, some cones set up to kind of send people into the closest parking area,” Johnson said. “You can come in off Russell or West or Western and just pull into the lots, find the closest spot and come on inside.”

There is also a clear bag policy in effect upon entrance. Bags can also be purchased at the box office. All concessions and merchandise are cashless.
