Rapid City police investigating shooting

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Authorities in Rapid City are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night around 5.

The Rapid City Police Department says they were called to the 100 block of E. Watertown Street for a report of an individual who had just been shot.

South Dakota State Penitentiary on lockdown again

On scene, police discovered that an altercation with several people led to a man being shot. The man was taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Police say they’re working to develop more info about the suspect and their whereabouts. They say the shooting does not appear to be random in nature and they don’t believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.

Anyone with any information about the shooting, or people involved, should contact police at 605-394-4131. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
