VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) — The South Dakota State men’s basketball team came from behind to defeat South Dakota 94-91 Sunday afternoon inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
The Coyotes jumped out to a 15-6 lead six and a half minutes into the game and led the majority of the first half, including holding a 42-40 edge heading into the locker room. The Jackrabbits used a 14-4 run in the opening minutes of the second half to surge in front and held the lead the remainder of the contest. The Yotes scored 13 of the game’s final 17 points to pull back within three.
The Jacks shot 53.1% in the second half and knocked down six of their nine 3-point attempts in the final 20 minutes. The Coyotes shot 51.7% in the first half, including 7-of-14 from the 3-point line.
Oscar Cluff led the SDSU scoring effort with a monster double-double of 21 points, 16 rebounds and five assists on 10-for-15 shooting. Jaden Jackson followed with 19 points on 7-of-9 from the floor. Matthew Mors added 15 points, and Joe Sayler added 10.
Isaac Bruns led USD with 21 points. Dre Bullock poured in 20 on 4-of-8 from downtown. Chase Forte scored 16 points, and Mayuom Buom tallied 10.
