SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A teenage boy has died from a gunshot that police are calling accidental, but not self-inflicted.

SD Supreme Court rules on CO2 survey lawsuit

On Thursday, Sioux Falls Police Department Lt. Aaron Nyberg said there were two arrests made from a shooting at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of 7th Street. Nyberg said he couldn’t say what charges a juvenile boy was facing, but said Savannah Lee Randle, 33, of Sioux Falls, was arrested and faces charges of child abuse, accessory to manslaughter and false reporting.

Detectives learned witnesses were told to leave before police showed up for what was being called a self-inflicted accidental shooting. Police determined the gunshot wasn’t self-inflicted but are still calling it “accidental.”

“The handgun was recovered from the scene,” Nyberg said. “No indication there’s an ongoing threat to the public.”

According to court documents, the victim was shot in the right eye and died from a gunshot wound to his head. Early indications show the gunshot happened from the range of 3 feet, court documents say.

The 9MM handgun was a stolen gun from an unlocked car in Sioux Falls, according to court documents.

He also said there were “several” teenagers involved in the case. Court documents say there were more than six teenagers in the house and a 2-month old infant.

According to the Minnehaha County jail log, Randle was booked into jail Wednesday night and has a $500,025 bond.

This is a developing story.
