SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls couple will be featured on national news on Friday after ‘On the Road with Steve Hartman’ was here to interview them.

We caught up with Don and Marilyn Barnett at their Sioux Falls home. They like going through the newspaper together. Marilyn likes the crossword puzzles. They’ve known each other since kindergarten, been married for 68 years and raised 5 children. There was a little excitement in the house earlier this week when a crew from CBS News stopped by.

Understanding the legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder

We can’t tell you what the story is about, because that would ruin the surprise, but we can tell you that the Barnetts are a pretty special couple

And there is a good reason Steve Hartman wants to tell you their story.

“Oh, he was wonderful, he was just so nice and asked very appropriate questions,” said Marilyn.”It was actually a lot less stressful going through it than I thought it was going to be, it was more like your neighbors coming in to visit with you,” said Don. So what do the Barnetts think about their story going out to the rest of the country?”It really doesn’t hit you when you are doing taping with them. they made it so intimate that you are not going outside your house,” said Don.

“I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it, but we’ve told all our relatives and friends you know to turn it on,” said Marilyn. We can give you one hint, the story is airing tomorrow for good reason. Because it has to do with Valentine’s Day.Be sure to tune in to the CBS evening news Friday for “On the Road with Steve Hartman,” at around 5:55 to see what makes this Sioux Falls couple so special.
