SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There’s been plenty of cold air in KELOLAND this month, as many locations have surpassed their average for lows and highs below zero.

As temperatures fall below zero in eastern KELOLAND tonight, it will mark the 14th consecutive low below zero in Aberdeen. Throw in a couple of overnights below zero from earlier in the month and Aberdeen has over half of the lows below zero this month. That compares to the climate average of 11.

This shows the amount of days with below zero lows in KELOLAND. For areas of eastern KELOLAND, you can most likely add tomorrow morning, as lows will fall to the single digits below zero.

Compared to the climate average, ALL are above their climate average when it comes to number of days of below zero lows. North central and eastern KELOLAND lead the way with a lot of areas having spent 10 to 17 mornings with lows below zero.

Once we get into the weekend, we may be done with overnights falling below zero…at least for this month.
