Tropical Depression Gordon weakens, battles dry air in central Atlantic

Gordon weakened to a tropical depression on Sunday, after forming in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Friday. Gordon’s future will be masked by wind shear and dry air, which are helping to hinder the tropical cyclone.Peak hurricane season is now underway as Gordon and Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight are tracked off the coast of the Carolinas.As of the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Tropical Depression Gordon was located more than 1,115 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands and its winds had decreased below the minimal tropical storm threshold (at least 40 mph).ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON REACHES PEAK SEPT 10The NHC said Gordon will likely remain over open water for the next several days and poses no threat to any landmasses.It is currently moving west, and it’s expected to continue on a west to west-southwest track over the next few days while slowing down considerably through midweek.DOWNLOAD THE FREE FOX WEATHER APP
