SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A unified basketball event was held at Lincoln High School Friday evening featuring athletes from all four of the city’s public high schools.

Nearly 100 players hit the court in front of a packed gymnasium. The event promoted inclusion of all athletes, no matter their ability.

“You get to wear your school jersey,” Lincoln unified basketball and cheer coach Drake Bachmeier said. “Every kid wants to be a part of their high school. It feels good to wear a Lincoln Patriot jersey, and not every kid gets it. And this is a great opportunity for every kid to wear a jersey.”

The event also featured performances from the schools’ cheer teams and show choirs.
