SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — People in Wessington Springs continue to mourn the loss of two victims from a Thursday night house fire.

In a Facebook post, the Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department expressed their grief and condolences, while saying the victims of the fire were Assistant Fire Chief Michial Brodkorb and his partner Tiffany Knipfer.
“We lost one of the best,” the post said. “Anyone that knew Michial, knows that he gave 110% to the fire department. His selfless service did not go unnoticed, as he would always volunteer to help with any community function or project.”
“The pain and sorrow that our department sustained was immeasurable,” the post said.
The fire broke out Thursday night and the couple were found the following morning.
There are still questions about how the fire started, and authorities say they hope to find those answers soon.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning, according to the South Dakota Attorney General’s office.
“We are awaiting the results,” the AG’s office said.
In an update Monday afternoon, the AG’s office said it continues to await a cause and manner of death along with the origin of the fire.
