SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — This weekend will give us a taste of what’s soon to come as we head into the second half of May.

I’m talking about drier and warmer weather as many in eastern KELOLAND can use it. Here’s a look at some locations and the amount of rain they’ve received since April 1.

Canton tops the list with their wettest since April 1 with around eight and a third inches.Rock Valley is at their second wettest and Vermillion is at their 3rd wettest with over 8 inches. At a little over six and a half inches, Sioux Falls is at their 7th wettest.

In book, Noem says what she’d do as U.S. president

As we go over the next couple of weeks, I don’t expect as much rainfall.

As the ridge will eventually build in the southwest United States and the thinking is it will move into the central and northern plains for the second half of May. This means warmer and drier air will be likely for the second half of the month.

After all, that’s when average highs are near 70 and eventually warm to the middle 70s at the end of the month.
